A broken site is urgent
Critical error, white screen, redirects to dodgy sites, a Google warning: every hour counts. I start by backing up the current state, then look for the real cause instead of hiding the symptom.
The most common breakdowns
- Critical error after a plugin or PHP update
- White screen or 500 error
- Hacked site: redirects, spam, unknown files
- Forms or payments that have stopped working
Clean up, then stop it happening again
Removing malware isn’t enough on its own. The door it came in through has to be closed. After the cleanup, I update what needs updating, tighten access and explain what happened.
Emergency WordPress repair
Critical error, white screen, hacked or redirected site: for a WordPress emergency, say so in your message and the request goes to the front of the queue. The repair always starts with a backup of the current state, so nothing is lost.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do if my WordPress site has been hacked?
Don't delete anything in a hurry. Change the admin and hosting passwords, then have the site scanned. The malicious code has to be removed and the hole found, or the hack will come back.
How do you clean a hacked WordPress site?
Back up the infected state, replace the core, theme and plugins with official copies, remove suspicious files and accounts, then fix the hole and ask Google for a review.
How long does a WordPress repair take?
An error caused by a plugin is often fixed quickly. A hack cleanup takes longer, because the hole also has to be found and closed. I give you an estimate after the diagnosis.
How do I fix the WordPress critical error?
Use the recovery link WordPress emails you, or turn on WP_DEBUG_LOG to read the error in debug.log, then deactivate the plugin or theme at fault.
How do I avoid getting hacked again?
Regular updates, removing unused plugins, two-factor authentication, a firewall and off-site backups. That's what a maintenance plan is for.
